This Supported Independent Living in Beaumaris is located in a quiet residential street approximately 500 meters from the local shopping strip, St Martin’s Court consists of 13 one-bedroom self-contained independent living units. All units open onto an accessible central courtyard with BBQ facilities. The support at St Martin’s Court is provided by Australian Home Care.

Supported Independent Living Units are unfurnished self-contained one-bedroom units, some have a private rear courtyard. All units are arranged around a central courtyard. Units are open planned; due to layout and size it would not be suitable for any person who requires exclusive use of a wheelchair indoors.

The property is fitted with emergency call system – each client has a personalized fob – when used staff are alerted of your need for assistance. This can be throughout the entire property, including indoors and the garden area. All units have an integrated hard-wired smoke alarm and fire sprinkler system. The units are separately metered for all utilities; individual residents are responsible for their own unit and all personal expenses.

Kitchen and Living area:
  • The living areas are open planned, some of the kitchen bench tops have free space underneath which can accommodated requirement should a resident need to sit at the bench top while preparing meals.
  • All floor levels are flat, the unit has vinyl flooring throughout.

  • St Martin’s Court also has a communal common room which includes a large kitchen, television, DVD player and games; these facilities are also available for Australian Home Care clients, their family and friends.

  • There are occasional group functions arranged by Australian Home Care at different times throughout year, these may include afternoon and morning teas, BBQ’s and movie days; Australian Home Care clients are welcomes to participate at their leisure.

Public Transport:
St Martin’s Court does not have dedicated transport; however, there is local accessible public transport.
  • Train: Cheltenham and Mentone train stations are approximately 5-minute car drive or 25–30-minute walk from St Martin’s Court; both of these are on the Frankston line and are in Zone 2.

  • Bus: There are regular bus services available on Balcombe Road, which as is a short walk from St Martin’s Court, and Tramway Rd, which runs parallel to St Martins Court. These services do include a wheelchair accessible bus.
  • Taxi: Taxis can be used to access the community at each client’s personal expense.
Local Shopping Precincts:
  • Balcombe Road: Is approximately a 10-minute walk to Balcombe Road and consists of a small supermarket, butcher, greengrocer, hairdresser, post office, ANZ Bank as well as variety of cafes and specialty stores.
  • The Concourse – Beaumaris: Is approximately a 20-minute walk and has a variety of specialty shops, including cafes, restaurants including a post office and Westpac Bank.
  • Mentone: Is approximately a 30-minute walk and includes a large variety of shops, supermarkets and major banks situated around the Mentone railway station.
  • Cheltenham: Is approximately a 30-minute walk and is located on Charman Road and includes a large variety of shops situated around the Cheltenham railway station.
  • Southland Shopping Centre: Is approximately a 45-minute walk and is located on the corner of Charman Road and Nepean Highway. There are a large number of shops and services including cinemas. Southland can be easily accessed using the local public bus service.
